Morro Jable is almost exclusively German. The beach is the main attraction, with pale golden sand stretching for around 4km from the older part of town. Low-rise, immaculately landscaped apartments and hotels front it. Back from the beach, the charm palls somewhat with a dual carriageway lined with commercial centres and hotels.
Playa del Matorral is the main beach here and it’s magnificent, stretching eastwards for over 4km from Morro Jable. A family-friendly beach, it’s great for indulging in a variety of water-sports. It rarely gets crowded, but for true solitude head for the beaches 7km further east, which are accessible only with your own transport. Being a very wide beach, some areas of it are drastically different from the others, we could say it’s a beach comprised of several different ones. Some crowded, some more tranquil. Some zones are perfect for practicing water sports, while others are not suited for this kind of activities. The sand is white and the waves are usually calm, it also has lots of bars and restaurant through all of it. There are various roads to get to it, walking or in a car.
Esquinzo Beach is situated in Morro Jable (Jandia), south of Fuerteventura, in the mouth of the ravine of Butihondo and the ravine of Esquinzo. It is a beach of almost a kilometre and a half of fine golden sand, where the wind barely blows and the ocean is calm during practically all year. It is perfectly gifted with services, like hammocks rentals, parasols and it has around one or two small shops and establishments for nautical sports.
RENTING A CAR - Driving is a pleasure in Fuerteventura: the terrain is largely flat and the roads excellent. We strongly recommend you to hire a car and drive around the island in order to make the most of their holidays. Cicar is a reliable local car-rental choice, with offices at the airport, in Puerto del Rosario and all the main resorts. You can find their office on your left once you exit the arrival area at the airport. As the assistant will explain to you, their car park is located in front of the airport. It is so convenient because it is literally less than 5 minutes away from it.
TAXIS - There are plenty of taxis available from the airport, costing around €75 to Costa Calma and €100 to Morro Jable. This is, by far, the most expensive option, but it’s an 80Km drive and taxis can only collect fares from the municipality they are registered in, so any taxi you get from the airport, will have to drive back empty. +34 928 875 079 Costa Calma Taxis +34 928 541 257 Pajara Taxis +34 928 541 923 Morro Jable Taxis
BUSES - There is one bus route between the Airport and Morro Jable, which runs a few times a day. This is the number 10 bus that runs from Puerto del Rosario. The entire journey costs around €10. Bear in mind that the buses run even less frequently on a Saturday and only twice a day on Sundays and public holidays. Alternatively, you could get the frequent number 3 bus to the bus station in Puerto del Rosario and then get the number 1 bus from there. The number 1 bus goes to Morro Jable.
