WINDSURFING AND KITESURFING - End of July and beginning of August might be not as quiet as the rest of the year. This is because 10 minutes away from Residence Playa Paraiso there is the World Cup at Playa Sotavento! Next year (2021) for the 35th time in a row, René Egli will organise the Windsurfing & Kiteboarding World Cup. People have the chance to experience world stars closer than anywhere else at the High Wind Spot. In this World Championship contests, there are plenty of marquee with delicious specialities of the local cuisine, live music and Legendary World Cup Parties up to the early hours.
Costa Calma is a town about 25km northeast of Morro Jable, it has beaches with very tranquil waves, perfect for swimming, walking on the beach or taking the sun.
Sotavento Beach is an enormous beach of white sand situated south of Fuerteventura in the east coast. It is one of the most popular beaches of the island and its kilometres of white sand and crystalline waters make her a small portion of heaven. It is a very wide beach and in some zones its waters are quite shallow and you have to walk far to manage to separate your feet from the ground.
Esmeralda Beach is a white-sand beach located between Costa Calma and Sotavento, east of Pajara, with a few hotels around it. It’s not too big, and you won’t see a lot of visitors, either, so it’s perfect if you’re looking for a place to relax. It is, to a certain extent, shielded from the wind.
RENTING A CAR - Driving is a pleasure in Fuerteventura: the terrain is largely flat and the roads excellent. We strongly recommend you to hire a car and drive around the island in order to make the most of their holidays. Please note that Residence Playa Paraiso is located in a Natural Reserve Area and the road that leads to it is not paved. For this reason, taxis might not take you to the residence entrance. That’s why renting a car will be the favourite option. Cicar is a reliable local car-rental choice, with offices at the airport, in Puerto del Rosario and all the main resorts. You can find their office on your left once you exit the arrival area at the airport. As the assistant will explain to you, their car park is located in front of the airport. It is so convenient because it is literally less than 5 minutes away from it.
TAXIS - There are plenty of taxis available from the airport, costing around €75 to Costa Calma and €100 to Morro Jable. This is, by far, the most expensive option, but it’s an 80Km drive and taxis can only collect fares from the municipality they are registered in, so any taxi you get from the airport, will have to drive back empty. +34 928 875 079 Costa Calma Taxis +34 928 541 257 Pajara Taxis +34 928 541 923 Morro Jable Taxis
BUSES - There is one bus route between the Airport and Morro Jable, which runs a few times a day. This is the number 10 bus that runs from Puerto del Rosario. The entire journey costs around €10. Bear in mind that the buses run even less frequently on a Saturday and only twice a day on Sundays and public holidays. Alternatively, you could get the frequent number 3 bus to the bus station in Puerto del Rosario and then get the number 1 bus from there. The number 1 bus goes to Morro Jable, but stops at the bus station in Costa Calma on the way.
